Valentine’s Day

Trina Talukdar

Denim skirts and gold rimmed aviators,
Silky black hair flying into my face,
Smelling of conditioner.

Fast food for lunch,
Holding hands in the park,
Panties in a bunch.
Inane talk of this, that,
Such and such.

Valentine’s day is so typical.

I finished a meal for two.
Someone asked to borrow the empty chair from my table,
“Dining alone?
“Yes, in fact, I often do.”

There’s some dirt beneath my finger nails,
But I conditioned my hair too!

Bandra station platform,
Lost in the rain.
I don’t think I’m going back home on the last train.

Typical. So typical.

  1. Swear the suddenness of this post is not due to the recent push to post more often. Was spring cleaning and found this stashed away in a small bag. I wrote it on a KFC napkin while eating alone there on Valentine’s day.

      1. Hiya, I’m really glad I have found this inarfmotion. Today bloggers publish just about gossips and internet and this is actually frustrating. A good blog with interesting content, that is what I need. Thanks for keeping this web site, I will be visiting it. Do you do newsletters? Can not find it.
