SFI has faced a terrible rout in the students’ union elections of the Jadavpur University arts faculty at the hands of Forum for Arts Students (FAS). Unlike the DSF-controlled Faculty of Engineering and Technology Students Union (FETSU), the arts faculty was an SFI bastion for the past 11 years. FAS was a joint non-SFI forum formed after police cruelty on students in June 2005.
My friends doing engineering in JU have the following to say,
It’s good to see SFI eliminated from JU. They are always making trouble. In 2005, they even supported the outrageous police action on the fasting students.

hi,i am a student of the comparative literature department of jadavpur university…………i worked with fas for many days.i am elated at its success but hope that they will be able to maintain it 4 many more years to come…………..
one thing which is disillusioning about fas is that their strategy of politics is based on emotions………better than sfi’s though but hurts many people…………
one more thing, why does fas want to rebel in a manner which has been proved wrong by history?……..ju is not a place where u win the elections and can really be satisfied with it.ju’s spirit is not the indian spirit………and one nandigram issue will not help fas to win elections again and again…..they have to prove more responsible than they actually are,i know its wrong to criticise anything specially if a group of people are fighting 4 the betterment, but take my criticism sportingly……….because i wanted to work with fas but coudnt because i did not find a mind in fas, there’s only a body……….and trust me i am not the only one to think so………..GOOD LUCK!hope fas will start thinking not only about the good but also elementarily, the way to achieve the good………..
and i hope more people to respond here so that we get to know what others feel……….TATA
hi,fellows…………
