Jewellery has been the most essential and integral part of Indian fashion statements through centuries. Jewellery which makes the appearance of a woman complete in itself has their unique designs and works from the different regions and cultures of India. The rapidly changing scenario of the Indian society has witnesses of the changing role of women from the household boundaries to the more challenging professional fields. As a result the fashion outlook of the modern women has also changed.

Earlier gold ornaments used to form the most essential ornament for any occasion. In the present social scenario light weight jewelleries with less use of gold and more use of stones or some other metal which are fashionable is creating the new fashion statement. Indian jewelers are focusing all their attention to providing the customers with such jewellery that match their wardrobe. Use of ‘polki diamonds’ or ‘uncut diamonds’ and ‘uncut ruby’ are very much in and they come in more affordable range compared to cut and polished diamonds and ruby. For occasions like wedding ceremonies jewelleries created in ‘Jodha Akbar’ style create new fashion statement. Kundan necklace and earrings designs are a blend of traditional designs with the modern ones. Jewellers are keen on varied designs of kundan as it is gorgeous and casual and it matches with a wide range of outfits. Gold ornaments are also being used in a much different and fashionable manner. Fashion designer Agnimitra Paul, in her collection of designer bridal jewellery, has fabricated the designs in pure gold with spray paint of various colours which has created a colourful tinge and a contemporary look in her collection. The touch of colour has made the whole collection unique and created a new fashion.

For women engaged in profession Indian jewelers have created jewelleries which are simple in appearance and have trendy designs. Stone setting necklace with matching light weight earrings, fingerings, bangles, anklets and wristlets are available in all leading jewellery showrooms. These are designed to match the formal wear of modern women.

Thus Indian fashion has reached its height and modern Indian women are really fortunate as they have a wide range of choices to make in order to make themselves look even more attractive.

obviously not…
gold holds its own high place in fashion, but people are using light weight jewelleries as they are more affordable and need no special arrangement to keep them secured.
