IPL-Men in auction

by Amartya Ghosh on February 7, 2009

picture1-798498It’s time for the second season of Indian Premier League (IPL) to start and yesterday only we could see  players round the world getting auctioned like vintages. Well someone rightly said ‘Yeh India ki Cricket hai’. And why not, if  a month or two can fetch a million or two dollars along with future contracts and limelight, it’s what the future generation should make a target. Don’t get surprised if in the coming years you see a cricket coaching centre named ‘T-20 tutorial’. Moreover bollywood has decided to plunge in the league finding it a better investment zone than the slow paced share market. Yesterday only we found team Mohali’s ‘malkin’ actress Preity Zinta, Kolkata’s Juhi Chawla and new addition in the hot list lanky Shilpa Shetty with thier respective partners in the bidding hotseat. And the biggest part of the show was a bid on young Bangladeshi Mashrafe Mortaza. The team Knight riders had to pay an unexpected $600,000 to get a catch of him. The costliest bid was England’s former captainAndrew Flintoff, bought by team Chennai at $ 1.55 million. He was followed by Kevin Pietersen (again 1.55 million), Duminy, Henderson, Mortaza and many more. Quite surprizingly the day’s total bid ammount summed up to 37 Cr INR. So as a bottom line ‘ Cricket ka jadoo chal gaya’ and in India nothing rule like cricket does.

EDEN GARDEN:THE DEBACLE

by Amartya Ghosh on April 21, 2008

Well The Kolkata Knight Riders may have really made it to the goal on Sunday evening, but speaking in SRK’s words its all Insha Allah ashirwad u may call… as though the exuberant crowd with all their support, along with SRK n Bollywood, packs of celebrities n last but not the least the sultry cheer girls tried their best to make the match theirs, the CAB (Cricket Association of Bengal) authority today proved their ways of working-made up of procastination and incompetence.

  1.  It was the bad pitch:as experts said a dry & cracked pitch-not a batting pitch. It could not give a score more then 110 for the Deccan Chargers.
  2. Even that score became a big and tough Target for The KKR-s to achieve.
  3. A more than 1 Hour Load Shedding, dimming flood lights in the Garden of Eden.
  4. Shortage of water supply in the stadium as always.
  5. What’s most important is not working of the score board.

So it can well be guessed what a wonderful place Eden Garden has made in people’s mind all over the globe…

RESPONSIBILITY ?? ??

CAB says it’s CESC’s…they say its PWD’s..God saved PWD didn’t reply at all, they could have said it’s SRK’s.
who knows had there been a rain, water would have logged in Eden,n we could have seen SRK dancing on the tunes of
“ai ajnabi,tu bhi kabhi awaz de kahise”

Well there’s hardly any words remaining to describe the chain of events occured, just that in spite of all these DADA’s DEVILS made it to a win….HATS OFF to the Knight Riders….

Lets wait n watch what improvement can Eden make in the coming days if at all they do any…….
