Tamali Barman

Antaheen the latest Bengali film is a splendid effort by the talented Tollywood director Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury. Antaheen which means ‘endless’ is a word which depicts endless waiting for attaining the so called destinies of love and faith. The story of Antaheen shows the different shades of human emotions. This is the second venture of Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury after his successful directional debut ‘Anuranan’.

The cast includes actors like Rahul Bose, Aparna Sen, Sharmila Tagore, Radhika Apte, Kalyan Ray, Meeta Vashist, Rudranil Ghosh, Barun Chanda, Saswati Guha Thakurta, Shauvik Kundagrami, Biswajit Chakraborty, Kunal Padhy, etc.

The story revolves around Abhik Chaudhury (Rahul Bose), an IPS Officer, Brinda Roy Menon (Radhika Apte), a bright young journalist, Ranjan and Paromita. Abhik and Brinda are friends in the virtual world of the internet without knowing about each other’s name and whereabouts. Paromita and Ranjan, a couple who have separated a few years ago on the pretext of searching and restoring back the love they shared, form the connection between Abhik and Brinda. Ranjan is Abhik’s cousin brother and a dear friend and Paromita is a senior marketing executive with media where Brinda is the junior colleague and friend.

The film portrays an urban love story shot entirely in Kolkata at various locations across town. Every character in the film has been portrayed beautifully. Director of Photography by Avik Mukhpadhyay is very fresh and mood effecting. The story is set in a modern environment and blackberrys and laptops have become the part and parcel of the daily life of the characters depicted. Proper editing has made the movie very smart and fast paced.
The music of Antaheen comprises of six tracks composed by Shantanu Moitra sung by Shaan, Shreya Ghoshal, Antara Chowdhury, Babul Supriyo and Chandrabindoo frontman Anindya. The music is soothing having a feel of the eighties with a very modern touch.
Thus Antaheen now celebrating its fifty days is a great watch.

"Antaheen" by @bongbuzz

  1. Guess what I really loved the movie Anuranan and was hoping Antaheen would be great too! Now reading this review I am looking forward to watch Antaheen.

  2. Yes absolutely true. Both the films ended with sudden deaths, is not it? Well whatever it is I feel Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury makes his films really romantic.

  3. @Tamali: Thanks for the spoiler! you just ruined it for me!

God, I really wanna watch all these Bengali movies…Antaheen and Kal Bela. But sitting here in Bangalore i have no idea where to get them from… Any help?

  4. “are u know everything”…sorry I must’ve missed one of my vital english classes in school, coz that sentence does not make sense to me. So would you kindly explain.
I am flattered to think you think I know everything. Yet, that’s not true.
I’m sorry, but how did I embarrass you by asking for help? Oh, let me guess, you feel too inadequate to be able to help me. Oh, that’s ok. DOn’t worry, when i asked for help, it wasn’t you i was asking. I don’t expect such chivalry from you. It was all the other people on Bongbuzz. Next time I’ll specify to avoid confusion.

  5. Dear friends let’s keep the topic confined to the movie please. Trina, you can check if any of your friends have these movies. That’s always a good idea. No Bong friends down there? Then one of us can courier it to you! :D

  6. Nope…no bong friends. I suppose i just have to wait for my yearly trip to kolkata to pick up the dvds…and i promise i’ll buy legal dvds :D

  7. well trina, who are you to question about my chivalry ?? anyways that’s you poking you nose everywhere and I appreciate you nonsensical attitude. About your getting movies, I suppose you haven’t got any friends? Isn’t it?

  8. After a second thought I discovered that a police officer with such subtle emotional thoughtfulness is not realistic, considering the behaviour of police officers I came across.

  9. @Amartya You see there are so many different types of people in this world. You never know when and how one day you will definitely meet a subtle emotional thoughtful police officer..

  10. Another great movie from Fine Actor …Rahul Bose , was dying to watch this movie , as on weekend I watched this and discovered Real Bengali are still alive…..I will watch it again ….
