Antaheen the latest Bengali film is a splendid effort by the talented Tollywood director Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury. Antaheen which means ‘endless’ is a word which depicts endless waiting for attaining the so called destinies of love and faith. The story of Antaheen shows the different shades of human emotions. This is the second venture of Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury after his successful directional debut ‘Anuranan’.
The cast includes actors like Rahul Bose, Aparna Sen, Sharmila Tagore, Radhika Apte, Kalyan Ray, Meeta Vashist, Rudranil Ghosh, Barun Chanda, Saswati Guha Thakurta, Shauvik Kundagrami, Biswajit Chakraborty, Kunal Padhy, etc.
The story revolves around Abhik Chaudhury (Rahul Bose), an IPS Officer, Brinda Roy Menon (Radhika Apte), a bright young journalist, Ranjan and Paromita. Abhik and Brinda are friends in the virtual world of the internet without knowing about each other’s name and whereabouts. Paromita and Ranjan, a couple who have separated a few years ago on the pretext of searching and restoring back the love they shared, form the connection between Abhik and Brinda. Ranjan is Abhik’s cousin brother and a dear friend and Paromita is a senior marketing executive with media where Brinda is the junior colleague and friend.
The film portrays an urban love story shot entirely in Kolkata at various locations across town. Every character in the film has been portrayed beautifully. Director of Photography by Avik Mukhpadhyay is very fresh and mood effecting. The story is set in a modern environment and blackberrys and laptops have become the part and parcel of the daily life of the characters depicted. Proper editing has made the movie very smart and fast paced.
The music of Antaheen comprises of six tracks composed by Shantanu Moitra sung by Shaan, Shreya Ghoshal, Antara Chowdhury, Babul Supriyo and Chandrabindoo frontman Anindya. The music is soothing having a feel of the eighties with a very modern touch.
Thus Antaheen now celebrating its fifty days is a great watch.
