Well, it’s Happy new year 2007′ says Minnie, a std. VIII student of a renowned school in da city of joy. Till this point it was not anything surprising, but it became so when Minnie uttered the Max’i, unexpected on da part of her dad Mr.Talukdar, a Clerk in a local co-operative bank. Now wat did Minnie ask for?– “Papa would u allow me to go to da ‘40 Thieves After Dark’ show at Nalban on da 31st evening? or the ‘Fire n ice’ show in international club? or da ‘Beyond Bikini’ show at Tantra ? or any of these? please pappa please”…… the poor Mr.Talukdar getting quite nervous n perplexed boldly rejected saying ‘but where hav u heard of all these nasty places…moreover u r not of da age to go there n the places r too expensive’…. Look I will take you to da zoo n will play n enjoy n hav a nice dayout n …….bla bla (the father’s tries continues but in vain….as l’l Minnie continues …my friends r going n i wud also…n as obvious some sentimental tears started peeping through her eye’s corner…..)
Well above was an example… though I really dunno whether Minnie Will make it to her destination on the 31st, But the time has come for the Kolkatans’, the parents to think twice…. the days of ‘Halumm!’ of da alipore zoo bagha or the Raichak picnic (with kochi patha satano), visit to the Museum n Millennium park…. r giving way to poll dancers at mantras n Tantras, DJ Mixers At Cloud 9 and Rain 10 for instance. The l’l Brains r now able to think Beyond Barriers till Beyond Bikinis… ‘rather thats da yo man Gen x style’.
With a 10k bucks in hand now Mr.Talukdar thinks, well was it a fault on my part to admit her in a ‘Branded’ school? but then u can’t stop her thinking….styles r changing….but so rapid???…???
