I generally watch movies at night, after dinner for an hour or two. But this time I being informed previously about the level of horror this latest release ’13B’ is going to provide, I didn’t take risk and decided to close the chapter well before dinner. And as soon as the movie ended I couldn’t stop myself from making the synopsis. It’s a remake of Vastu Shastra but in a different plot. The charismatic south Indian superstar Madhavan plays the pivotal and unveils the mystery of the story. I would admit that my friend wasn’t wrong totally considering the director’s ability to keep the suspense alive till the end. Frankly speaking, the number of characters, their activities were enough to mess up ones thought if he/she is concentrating deep. The story portrays the fate of a joint family residing at flat number 13B of a particular apartment where thirty years back used to be another well to do joint family but all of whose members were brutally killed. Reading till this one may presume the fate. This new family faces all odd, eerie, supernatural incidents as an effect of the what is called ‘bhatakti atma’ psychologically meaning unsatisfied, unholy roaming about souls of dead men. But in this case for a change of taste the director used television as a medium of the particular soul to spread its trepidation and later on moved on to a mobile phone for the same purpose; and why not, afterall technology meets trust. In a was it was a good time pass though there were a number of marked loop holes and unclarified incidents. Director Vikram Kumar though couldn’t create an appeal, but didn’t copy the Ram Gopal Verma style at least. For regular movie viewers it’s just another one.For friends, just go and chill.

Interesting, I must say! :D
In the movie is there any terrible looking weird figure?? Or is it just the feel of the ‘atma’ that it gives?
no, it’s atma feel
You watched the pirated version?
why do you want to know this ?
Piracy is killing the film industry. So please say NO to piracy. May be it is the easiest and cheapest way to watch a latest film without buying a ticket. But trust me you are committing a crime when you are renting and watching a pirated version of a movie.
well I won’t say you are wrong but first economically and then considering the time factor this the only way one can find. The government should change ticket stages and other restrictions you know. Even they should lock the torrent sites.Barring all these Cd’s are available everywhere, what about those?
Amartya, Rohonda is correct. We must learn to say NO to piracy. Granted that there are many sources of piracy, be it torrent sites or illegal CD stores. But no one is forcing you to choose them. As a responsible citizen, one should not opt for them. As for me, although I always try to rent DVDs from genuine stores and buy most of the music and movies, I can’t vouch that I don’t use pirated content. But I have resolved that once I complete studies and start working, I will buy everything I watch or listen.
A friend was telling me, after reading this review, that it was written before the movie was released! Is it so? May be that is the reason the piracy question came in Rohon’s mind.
Well, what can I say more? What Nipon has told is correct only. We always have choices. Anyway, the question about piracy came to my mind for the first few lines — “I generally watch movies at night, after dinner for an hour or two. But this time I being informed previously about the level of horror this latest release ‘13B’ is going to provide, I didn’t take risk and decided to close the chapter well before dinner.” Which says, the person is at his home and watching the recently released (or not released, I’m not sure) film.
hehe!! no brother… piracy’s black hand haven’t reached that far that we will watch movies before release !! yes, whatever you or nipon were telling is correct, I admit.
@Amartya: oh piracy’s “black hands” (please stop translating vernacular idioms directly into English…its so funny! oh no actually, don’t stop…i don’t mind the laughs) have reached as far as to have movie downloads on before release. Remember “slumdog millionaire”…have the country had watched it 2 weeks before it was out…i even remember Shajid Khan making a dig at it in the Filmfare awards.
@Trina, better say Miss ‘bone of contention’, or miss ‘poke my nose where I shouldn’t', you know what, it’s really great to know that there is someone who’s so bothered about whether I am writing correct or wrong English. Would you please rectify it?
@ Amartya….god! get over it! it was just a tiny joke. why do you take offense so easily? is it because you are insecure about ur english? I hope not because its not that bad.
I’d rather if you replied to the piracy issue instead…it’s much more important that your linguistic skills, wouldn’t you say?
As, for your offer, I wouldn’t mind rectifying it at all. Next time you write something, send it to me before publishing it and I’ll proof read it.
Hey guys chill! Keep the temperature down, in this age of recession let’s conserve our energy as much as possible! :-)
For a start, read the Green post I wrote sometime back!
Heya, sorry to poop on the party coz I’m just new here. All the same, since linguistic skills are in question –
@Trina – It should be “I’d rather you replied”. No ‘if’.
@Amartya – It’s never “wrong English”. It’s “incorrect English”. ‘Wrong English’ is wrong English. ;-)
@trina, go through the previous replies I made to Nipon or Rohon, I always prefer to be to the point, it’s only you who makes a mountain out of a molehill
@Diptish thank you for the correction
@Amartya:u r an awsome entertainer mate!whn they mk Dark Knight in tolly..go 4 Heath’s role..u wl justify it,though namewise..
@Trina:y so serios??
@ i poke my nose: I like you. Pray disclose ur identlty.
As far as Amartya is concerned, I’m not serious, I just think Amartya should be on a tree house on some tree in the jungles of Sunderban rather than on Bongbuzz, and he has similar sentiments towards me, so we just make merry out of insulting each other. Sorry. It’s not quite as fun for the by-standers as for the parties involved.
@ Amartya: i think making fun of u is a molehill coz its so easy to do. ur the one who takes offense so easily and makes it into a mountain.
@trina, come on, be to the point, don’t change the topic
@trina:D view frm d dc isnt all tht bad uknw!
N come on..@Amartya is ryt..”B to d point” .;)
@ Amartya: Sorry…making fun of u is so entertaining that I quite lost the real point of this all…please remind me.
@Poke: Enjoy the show. We’re glad to be of service :D
